In this study, the usability of periodicals published in the Ottoman period as a source in urban history studies was evaluated. The study aims to contribute to the use of periodicals containing information about urban history as a reference source in urban history studies. The hypothesize of the study that the use of Ottoman periodicals as a reference source in urban history studies will contribute to the discovery of new information. In this study, historical method and historical source analysis techniques were used. As a result of the study conducted on sample articles selected from Servet-i Fünûn magazine, it was revealed that it is important to use Ottoman periodicals as a reference source in city history studies and that a new approach on this issue is necessary.
