Synopsis

In this study, ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by green synthesis by using Laurus nobilis plant leaves extract collected from Fakıuşağı district of Osmaniye, and its usage as in vitro nanofertilizer could be used in various plants (Zea mays (maize), Triticum aestivum (wheat) and Vicia sativa (vetch)) seeds were investigated by preparing them at different concentrations (0, 62.5, 125, 250 and 500 ppm). 25 g of Laurus nobilis powdered leaves was taken and placed in 500 ml of dH2O and stirred continuously at 100 ºC for 1 hour. 50 ml of the plant extract obtained by filtration was taken and 5 g (CH3COO)2Zn 0.2 H2O was added to it and kept stirring continuously until it evaporated. ZnO nanoparticles were obtained by burning the pellet part separately at 400, 600, and 800 ºC in the muffle furnace. The resulting powder was characterized using XRD and UV-Vis. The sterilized seeds were taken into 9 cm petri dishes with 2-layer Whatman No: 1 filter paper inside, and 10 ml of the solutions prepared by adding ZnO NPs at different concentrations were placed on them and the parafilm was closed. Petri dishes were then kept at room temperature (25 oC, 12 hours dark, 12 hours light) for 8 days. It was determined that ZnO nanoparticles obtained by the green synthesis method using extract of L. nobilis were more effective at the lowest concentrations (62.5 and 125 ppm).
