Synopsis

Some unplanned emergencies inevitably affected the education system and enabled the distance education process to become widespread. Distance education is a useful model in terms of reaching large audiences and providing ease of access, giving all students the opportunity to learn at their own pace, regardless of time and place. Distance education, which is also considered a complement to face-to-face education, has become a useful tool in today's teaching activities, and live lessons and different technological infrastructures have emerged with the integration of the education system into distance education. The advantages and disadvantages of distance education can be mentioned for both students and instructors. While it is an important advantage that faculty members can connect to courses without any time or space constraints and easily share their recorded courses or other resources with students, the disruption of courses due to reasons such as lack of participation and the inability to create appropriate learning environments have caused some disadvantages. Accordingly, distance from technology, unfamiliarity with distance education, difficulty in using materials, inadequacy of students' participation in the lesson and some problems in evaluating students have been shown as factors that cause disruption in the distance education process. Although attending distance classes seems easy for students, after a while negative consequences such as not being able to socialize, becoming lonely, and being unable to focus have become inevitable. As a result, the emergence of both satisfaction and dissatisfaction has affected distance education almost equally. Accordingly, it is possible to say that satisfaction may increase if a learning environment is created where students can feel safe. When it comes to mathematics lessons, factors such as prioritizing student needs, creating appropriate materials for teaching subjects, and ensuring adequate communication are among the factors considered important in learning. Developing these factors and designing the distance education process according to student needs has been seen as the main factor in increasing success.
