Capparis L. (caper), a salt-tolerant xerophytic and heliophilic plant, is naturally distributed in Burdur province. Caper is a plant that is very resistant to drought and unfavorable environmental conditions. Since the plant spreads as if it covers the soil surface, it prevents wind erosion of sandy and clay soils and also its root system, which may reach depths of many meters, provides a contribution in protecting against landslides. Therefore, the caper bush appears as a good candidate for planting the barren areas. Caper, which is also a medicinal plant, is a plant that is used in many areas and has economic importance. Besides, it is used as an ornamental plant, landscape plant and is rarely used as a forage plant. All these characteristics make caper a remarkable plant from an ecological and economic point of view.
