Synopsis

Brachytherapy (BRT) is an important and effective radiation treatment process along with external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). Unlike EBRT, the radiation source in BRT is radioisotopes. BRT is a radiotherapy technique that safely delivers high doses of radiation by placing radioactive devices near tumors to eliminate and shrink tumors.

BRT application is divided into 6 different techniques according to the location of the tumor, the distance of the tumor to healthy tissues, and the type of cancer. These; Intracavitary Brachytherapy Application, Interstitial Brachytherapy Application, Intraluminal Brachytherapy Application, Superficial Brachytherapy Application, Intraoperative Brachytherapy Application, Intravascular Brachytherapy Application.
