Synopsis

In this section, the annual financial statements of 14 companies traded in the retail trade sector in Borsa Istanbul for the last 5 years were analyzed and interpreted using the ratio analysis technique. Companies in the retail trade sector are classified according to their fields of activity as chain markets, fuel trade sector, information and communication technologies and clothing retail sector. The companies' rates were evaluated according to the averages of their sectors. In the analysis, it was determined that the fields of activity of MIPAZ and GMTAS, which are in the chain markets sector, are different from other chain markets. As a matter of fact, their rates differ significantly compared to other companies. As a result of the analysis, it can be said that CRFSA, located in the chain markets, is the company with the worst financial structure, while BIMAS is the best. In addition, it has been determined that the sector where the negative effects of the COVID 19 period are seen is the clothing retail sector. In general, it has been observed that the financial ratios of the companies in the sectors have increased positively since 2021.
