Synopsis

Creating value in agriculture is crucial for the development of agricultural entrepreneurship, innovation and rural development. In this respect, the benefits provided by supplier partners are as important as customer satisfaction in value co-creation. Value can be co-created when customers and suppliers interact at every stage from product design to consumption. Today, there is a trend towards creating sustainable value from sustainable marketing with the interaction of the supplier network and customer network. The research considers agricultural development cooperatives as a cooperation model. In this book, the role of "sustainable value co-creation" in the supply chain is evaluated through an agricultural development cooperative operating in Izmir, selected as the "World's Exemplary Rural Development Model" by the United Nations.

In the research, a qualitative approach is used to create the value creation process, and thus, it is aimed to create value together with the stakeholders in the supply chain. Within the scope of qualitative research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with approximately 23 people, including the managers of agricultural development cooperative and cooperative partners, and the results were analyzed in the MAXQDA program. As a result of the analysis, the sustainability practices of the cooperative were determined. In addition, factors affecting productivity in agriculture and husbandry, the benefits of participating in a cooperative and expectations for the development of agriculture and husbandry were determined.

The research makes a significant contribution to the literature in scientifically proving that value co-creation is a team effort in the supply chain. In this way, the research will shed light on local food producers and retail companies to improve themselves in sustainable value co-creation.

This study aims to both accelerate regional and local development and protect small-scale farmers in the market. In addition, it will guide agricultural cooperatives and retail companies in the supply chain to help consumers shop for food in a healthier, safer and more sustainable way.
