Synopsis

Raising a new generation that will meet the needs of the age requires quality education. Quality education is undoubtedly possible with well-equipped teachers and teachers. The competencies and duties of the teaching profession change in line with the changing needs of society over time. The duties and competencies of the teaching profession are among the most important educational issues that remain current in every society. For this reason, teacher training has been and continues to be one of the most prioritized areas of our education structure awaiting solution. In this study, which is a literature review, teacher training policies in Turkey from the first years of the Republic to the present have been examined, and by looking at the teacher training process, which has become a problem of our education system, from past to present, the problems of our current teacher training process have been revealed and solution suggestions have been created. For this purpose, the question "What have been the teacher training policies in Turkey from the first years of the Republic to the present day?" has been answered. The positive and negative effects of these policies on the teacher training process have been examined.
