Synopsis

Individuals who are involved in the financial system for various reasons encounter some problems and opportunities along with the changes in financial markets. Due to reasons such as technological innovations and advances in financial markets, the complexity of product content and operations, and the increase in product diversity, it is extremely important for individuals to have sufficient, accurate and up-to-date information on financial matters, in other words, to be financially literate, for their financial security and well-being. In this research, the concept and importance of financial literacy as a necessary and important tool for individuals to have financial confidence and well-being is explained. Then empirical research on financial literacy conducted in Turkey between 2014 and 2022 was examined. It has been determined that the majority of the research conducted during the examined period was conducted specifically on university students, academicians and public employees, and the survey method was used for almost all of the research.
