Synopsis

In this study; It was aimed to examine the child liking levels of teachers working in public schools affiliated with National Education in terms of sports activities and different variables. 536 teachers with an average age of 39.44 voluntarily participated in the study. The child liking scale, developed by Barnett and Sinsini (1990) and adapted into Turkish by Duyan & Gelbal (2008), was used. To determine the differentiation and relationship between variables at the level of child liking, "Pearson correlation" analysis was applied for continuous variables and "Independent Samples T-test" and "One-Way Analysis of Variance" parametric tests were applied for discontinuous variables. The results obtained were evaluated based on the significance level of p<0.050. As a result of the analyses, a significant difference was found between the variables of gender, staff status and doing sports activities. Additionally, it was found that there was a relationship between teachers' ages and their level of liking for children. Results were found to be in favor of women, paid teachers and teachers who do sports activities in terms of child liking levels. The striking result was that there was a negative relationship between age and the level of liking for children. The high level of liking for children among those who engage in sports activities emphasizes the positive contribution of sports activities on teachers. For this reason, it is recommended to provide opportunities for teachers to do sports activities and similar social activities.
