Aim
The aim of the study is to make an examination on the success of the restoration works carried out in the determined buildings in Istanbul.
Method
Data was obtained using qualitative research methods. Observation and photography were used as data collection tools.
Findings
According to the research, it has been determined that the restoration works have some inappropriate results in terms of both exterior and interior structural elements.
Results and Suggestions
Some of the images obtained were compared with old images of the buildings, and evaluations were made regarding the fidelity of the restorations and failure cases were revealed.
Originality
Cultural heritages, which are the common value of all societies, are important works that have hosted history and civilizations and have survived from the past to the present. The awareness of preserving these works and transferring them to the future is one of the goals of every society. In addition to ecological reasons, natural disasters, wars and human factors cause these works to disappear and be erased from history. The most important method to recover these works is correct restoration. However, despite the developing technology and freedom of research and communication, it seems that some restoration works have failed.
