Synopsis

In this chapter, the presence of women and the absence in the technology sector have been discussed and explained in different dimensions. As with all other problems related to women, this situation, which can basically be described as a gender problem, has trapped women/femininity in a paradox for centuries. And this paradox is a reality that women have been trying to overcome alone for centuries. In this section, the phenomenon of technology is defined by associating it with science and explaining why it is perceived as a masculine field. Then, the approaches deciphering the relationship between technology and gender phenomena have discussed. An attempt has been made to summarize feminist technology research, which is considered a sine qua non. The presence of women in the technology sector and the current problems have been elaborated. The main national and international organizations that will increase the presence of women in the technology sector have been tried to be introduced. As a result, “why are there so few women in tech?” the fact that not only women researchers but also industry and policy makers and practitioners should frequently ask and seek answers to this question has one of the main results of this study, and the study has concluded with the hope of leaving a question mark in the minds with the suggestions developed.
