Abaza Language: Summer Learning Journey – Practice and Exercise Texts
Synopsis
The development of writing skills in language learning is of great importance for strengthening students’ grammatical competence as well as their ability to express themselves literarily. Therefore, systematic and regular exercises contribute to learners’ attainment of both fluency and accuracy in the language. This instructional material has been designed to reinforce students’ writing skills and to introduce them to literary language. This instructional material is designed to develop writing skills and to enhance the knowledge acquired throughout the academic year. The material consists of forty texts selected from literary works and is intended for practice at least three times a week. It contributes to increasing silent reading speed, memorization of texts, fostering interest in reading the continuation of the presented literary excerpts, reinforcing handwriting and calligraphy skills, consolidating knowledge in phonetics, and internalizing literary language. The exercises provided aim to reinforce the knowledge students have gained in the introductory phonetic and grammatical course. The instructional material facilitates the transition to learning more complex linguistic structures. The short texts included in the book bring students closer to the study of the Abaza literary language and the language of artistic literature. Through the process of rewriting the texts, students become acquainted with literary language and develop familiarity with it. Literary texts have been deliberately included in the material in consideration of the courses Abaza Prose and Abaza Poetry, which begin in the second year of study. For greater clarity and comprehension, Turkish translations have been added to all texts included in the book.
