Synopsis

The aim of this study was to compare certain physical and motor characteristics of competitive football players aged between 15 and 19 years in relation to age. A total of 63 male football players, who actively participated in official football competitions and were registered in various clubs in the province of Kayseri, voluntarily took part in the study. All participants were free from any health problems or chronic/acute conditions that could potentially affect the study. The test battery applied to the participants included Countermovement Jump (CMJ), leg strength, 20-meter shuttle run test, seat and reach, and the Mor-Christian football skill tests (dribbling, shooting, and passing). The obtained data were statistically analyzed using SPSS version 25. Since the data were normally distributed, One-Way ANOVA was employed to determine differences between groups, and Tukey’s post-hoc test was used to identify which groups differed significantly from each other. According to the findings, significant differences were found among the age groups in terms of height, body weight, shooting, passing, dribbling, leg strength, VO2max, and flexibility values (p<0.01). As a result, it was concluded that physical and motor development naturally increases with age among football players; however, this development is influenced by numerous factors such as individual differences, training history, and the types of training applied.
