We Are Not All in the Same Boat: A Critical Analysis of Capitalism, Science, and the COVID-19 Pandemic
Synopsis
This book investigates the relationship between science and the capitalist mode of production from a historical perspective. The COVID-19 pandemic, which occurred during a period when health services were extensively commodified on a global scale, is examined within this context, highlighting the aspects of this process that adversely affect the public. Furthermore, the concept of social consent is scrutinized by analyzing the manipulation mechanisms that obstruct the association of the arising problems with capitalism. This study aims to explore the outcomes of the interplay between science and capitalism during the COVID-19 pandemic and to discuss a public option through the lens of social medicine experiences.
