Synopsis
The purpose of this study is to examine whether the environmental and personal psychological pressures athletes are exposed to have an effect on their physical performance on or off the field, based on research in the literature. After defining the concepts of emotional intelligence and mental health, this study introduces models and subheadings. Subsequently, this study aims to examine the factors that influence and are influenced by the concept of emotional intelligence, reveal the relationship between these concepts and mental health based on the literature, and discuss how these concepts are addressed in the field of sports. After explaining the necessary concepts and terms, the study aims to serve as a guide on who is affected by the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental health, in which sports it has been researched, how situations may differ depending on which variables, and what kind of recommendations can be made for future studies by referring to studies conducted in the sports environment.
