Synopsis

This study examines the potential, challenges and ethical requirements of Green FinTech, which plays a key role in achieving global sustainability goals. Green FinTech is defined as the implementation of climate goals through the application of financial technology. FinTech promotes corporate green technology innovation by increasing the efficiency, accessibility, and scalability of sustainable financing instruments such as green bonds and loans, thereby reducing transaction costs and time. Artificial intelligence, in particular, enables the analysis of sustainability reports, the prediction of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance, the promotion of eco-friendly investments, and provides financial institutions with the ability to assess environmental risks. Blockchain increases transparency and trust in green financing, enabling the tracking of carbon credits and the monitoring of green bond revenues. Furthermore, FinTech methods such as digital credit platforms and crowdfunding reduce the challenges of financing green projects, facilitating access to sustainable investment opportunities. Financial inclusion is increased by bringing financial services to underserved communities. However, there are significant challenges and ethical concerns in the implementation of Green FinTech. Data gaps in emissions calculations, inconsistencies between different ESG frameworks, and the lack of standardisation in the definition of green are fundamental problems. Furthermore, algorithmic bias, the lack of human oversight in automated green product recommendations, and concerns about greenwashing create ethical challenges. Limited internet connectivity in rural areas, device access issues, and a lack of digital literacy further exacerbate the digital divide and accessibility problems. Furthermore, it is emphasised that ensuring algorithmic fairness and ethical data usage are fundamental requirements.
