Synopsis

This study addresses artificial photosynthesis and its applications in combating global warming and climate change, a major problem of the 21st century. Artificial photosynthesis is a promising milestone for clean and sustainable energy for our planet. Developed by drawing inspiration from natural photosynthesis, this biochemical process converts carbon dioxide and water into useful chemicals such as fuels and oxygen with the help of sunlight or artificial light. In this way, a large amount of harmful carbon dioxide, which causes greenhouse gases, can be removed from our atmosphere during the fuel and oxygen production process. The availability of sufficient water and carbon dioxide in nature makes working on artificial photosynthesis valuable. Indeed, many researchers are showing intense interest in this field, and studies have rapidly increased in recent years. However, a series of studies and time are needed to develop high-performance, efficient photocatalysts, as well as to make artificial photosynthesis systems economically and efficiently sustainable and to globalize them.
