Migration Management: Humanity at the Threshold, Transnational Crises, and Solutions.
Synopsis
Migration is among the most pressing issues of our time. Due to war, armed conflict, violence, and human rights violations, people are migrating in large numbers from their home regions to other regions in order to protect their lives. Migration also brings with it health problems. Countries are failing to provide effective healthcare services to the migrants who arrive at their doorsteps. Turkey, due to the civil war that began in neighboring Syria in 2011 and intensified, has faced a migration crisis of unprecedented magnitude and severity. The legal status of Syrians arriving in Turkey uncontrolled due to the intense waves of migration has been determined accordingly, and they have been included under temporary protection status. Turkey has provided emergency healthcare, preventive healthcare, secondary healthcare, and tertiary healthcare services free of charge to millions of Syrian refugees under temporary protection. The healthcare services Turkey provides to Syrian refugees under temporary protection are equivalent to those provided to its own citizens. This demonstrates that healthcare services provided to Syrian refugees under temporary protection in Turkey are equitable, meeting international standards. Turkey has not only provided healthcare services to Syrian refugees under temporary protection. It has also worked diligently to ensure high standards of access to healthcare for Syrian refugees under temporary protection. Therefore, Turkey offers Syrian refugees under temporary protection services and opportunities unparalleled in the world, even in its own country.
