Synopsis
First aid comprises a set of systematic interventions applied in life-threatening situations before professional healthcare teams arrive at the scene, with the aim of increasing an individual’s chances of survival, preventing the deterioration of their condition, and supporting the recovery process. In modern medical practice, first aid is no longer regarded as a fixed body of basic skills; rather, it has evolved into a dynamic field of practice that is continuously updated in line with current scientific evidence, international guidelines, public health policies, and multidisciplinary approaches.
