Synopsis

Among the raw material resources needed by our country, iron ores, which are the main input for blast furnaces, and phosphate deposits, whose deficit is covered annually through imports due to their use in agriculture, hold an important place. One of the places where these phosphate ores are located is the Mazıdağı district of Mardin province. Rich phosphate deposits are found in Mazıdağı, Mardin. Phosphate rock is a type of rock that contains sufficient (one or more) phosphate minerals and has economic value only as a source of phosphorus or phosphorus-containing components. In this study, the phosphate obtained from Mazıdağı, Mardin, was characterized and its chemical properties were examined. XRD, XRF, TG/DTA, Optical Dilatometry, FT-IR, SEM, and particle size distribution analyses were performed on the phosphate from the Mazıdağı region.
