Synopsis
This study examines the applications of therapeutic recreation in different disorder areas using a literature-based approach. Therapeutic recreation encompasses structured recreational activities aimed at improving individuals' physical, cognitive, psychological, and social functioning. The study investigates applications in sensory, cognitive, psychological, and social adjustment disorders, and provides evaluations based on national and international studies. Furthermore, the challenges encountered in therapeutic recreation applications are assessed. The study concludes that therapeutic recreation plays a complementary role in rehabilitation and support processes, improving individuals' quality of life and social participation. In conclusion, the importance of structuring therapeutic recreation as an interdisciplinary intervention area is emphasized, and suggestions are offered for more successful implementation of these applications.
