Synopsis

This study investigates the causal relationship between economic growth, foreign direct investment, exports, and inflation in the Türkiye economy. The causal relationship and its direction were investigated using the Toda-Yamamoto test. Furthermore, these causal relationships were analyzed using annual data from 1988-2024. In light of the empirical findings, the results are as follows: a unidirectional causal relationship was found from economic growth to exports and foreign direct investment, while a bidirectional causal relationship was found between inflation and foreign direct investment. Based on these empirical findings, it is emphasized that attention should be paid to the dynamics of foreign direct investment and exports in the Türkiye economy.
