Recreation is an important activity that encompasses the ways in which individuals spend their leisure time while achieving physical and mental rejuvenation. Natural areas are attractive settings for recreational activities due to their ecological diversity, scenic beauty, clean air, and tranquil environments. Scientifically assessing the recreational potential of these natural areas located in different regions of Türkiye is of great importance for both ensuring environmental sustainability and supporting regional development. In this study, the recreational potential of the Erciş Balık Bendi Recreation Area, located within the boundaries of Van Province, was evaluated using the Gülez Method. The area was assessed based on various criteria, including physical characteristics, climatic conditions, landscape values, accessibility, and infrastructural facilities. The collected data were analyzed to determine the level of recreational suitability. The results revealed that the Erciş Balık Bendi Recreation Area possesses a high potential for recreational use; however, certain deficiencies related to infrastructure and visitor guidance facilities were also identified.
