Synopsis
Modern life, technological advancements, urbanization, changing working conditions, and digitalization have caused significant changes in individuals' daily habits. In this process, physical activity and exercise have become crucial for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, reducing stress, and improving quality of life. Regular exercise is considered a positive behavior that supports individuals' physical, mental, and social health. However, in some cases, exercise can become an uncontrollable habit, negatively impacting individuals' daily lives. This is defined as exercise addiction. Exercise addiction is characterized by difficulty controlling the urge to exercise and experiencing negative emotions such as restlessness, tension, or guilt when not exercising. Over time, excessive exercise can lead to physical injuries, fatigue, impaired social relationships, and neglect of daily responsibilities. The performance-oriented nature of modern life, the ideal body image, and healthy lifestyle trends can particularly increase excessive exercise in some individuals. This section examines the effects of modern life on individuals' exercise habits and the concept of exercise addiction. The basic characteristics of exercise addiction, its causes, and its potential effects on individuals are evaluated. It was emphasized that regular exercise is important for a healthy life, but maintaining a balanced exercise routine is crucial for individual health and quality of life.
