Synopsis
The process that began with the invention of writing in 3200 BC also brought the issue of news production and control of this news to the agenda. In general, the production and control of information has been accepted in every period of history as a power that governments want to have in their hands. Although newspaper-like formations are observed in the ancient Roman and Chinese civilizations, it is possible to date the emergence of the first newspapers in the modern sense back to 1600 AD. In the process that began with the invention of the printing press, instead of handwritten books, the first newspapers that provided news on economic, political and social issues, consisting of a few pages, began to be published in Europe. The first newspapers, such as the printing press, which came to the Ottoman Empire approximately 200 years later, also came approximately 200 years after their date of origin in Europe. The first newspapers were generally published by foreigners and used as a means of printing. The sports press, on the other hand, was included in general news much later, rather than being separate. The sports, which were used effectively in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and in the beginning of the Turkish state, paved the way for the formation of the sports press. Although the press, which was supported until the 1980s, experienced changes in its patronage structure with the changing economic order in this period, the current governments continued to support sports for various reasons. The 2000s, on the other hand, constituted an effective period of rapid transformation experienced by sports and sports thanks to the developing internet and information technologies. In this period, opportunities such as digital platforms and interactivity explain the transformation experienced by sports and sports press more clearly by the audience.
