Synopsis

In social sciences, multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods play a critical role in analyzing multidimensional and subjective problems. This study assessed the trends in MCDM in Turkey by conducting a bibliometric analysis of 739 social science articles published in the TR Index until May 2025. Although the research showed an increase after 2020, it showed a downward trend in 2023-2024. Sivas Cumhuriyet University was identified as the most productive institution and Aşkın Özdağoğlu as the prominent researcher. While AHP, TOPSIS and Entropy methods are common, recently there has been an increased interest in techniques such as PROMETHEE, EDAS and ARAS. Financial performance and sustainability themes are at the forefront. The most cited study is Uygurtürk and Korkmaz's (2012) financial analysis using TOPSIS (123 citations). The study points to methodological diversity (WASPAS, COPRAS, MEREC) and emphasizes the lack of hybrid methods and application in fields such as sociology/public administration. The exploration and combined use of underutilized techniques is recommended for future research. This analysis provides guidance for academia and policy makers by revealing the dynamics of CRM research in Turkey.
