Synopsis

Teachers’ lounges are areas allocated to teachers in which they can usually spend time between classes. These areas include educational affairs, teachers’ solidarity with their constituents, etc., which are used in certain situations. The teachers’ lounge, which has many functions, is a place where not only professional knowledge, experiences, and academic concerns but also ideas about family and political and socioeconomic issues can be exchanged. Since teachers’ lounges are environments where teachers of different cultures and educational approaches come together, teachers’ expectations from these spaces also change. The subject of the research conducted in line with these thoughts is articles (2010-2023) containing the phrase "teachers' lounge/teacher lounges” in the Google Scholar and Search Center database of the Council of Higher Education. In this qualitative study, a document analysis technique was employed.  The research data consists of 8 articles and 2 master's theses. According to research findings; The number of studies on the teachers’ lounge is limited and has increased in the last five years; the majority of research has been done in primary and secondary schools; the articles are mostly qualitative studies; most of the research data is obtained by interview technique; the research subjects are generally teachers’ opinions about the teachers’ lounge and that the studies are distributed in different cities of Turkey. In the concept cloud of keywords, the term "teachers" is the most frequently mentioned in the articles, while the expression "educational environments" is the most frequently mentioned term in theses.
