Synopsis

The concept of women's labor was used in the twentieth century to refer to women working in sectors such as agriculture, industry, services, etc. for a wage. Such a conceptual explanation covers activities outside the home for a wage. Because there is a common social ideology that women's main duty at

home and that family-oriented work should be done. Therefore, another concept, the concept of women's invisible labor, emerges exactly at this point. When this gendered concept is considered in a narrow sense, it is defined as the labor spent on housework such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping, and the children, elderly, sick, and disabled people in the family. However, over time, this concept has been expanded and the work done by women has been considered as a part of women's nature, and the labor exerted by women has been evaluated not as a job but as a behavioral style. Care work, in particular, has been assigned to women by society because it is seen as more suitable for women's nature and because it is both unpaid and unqualified. Moreover, women are also subject to discrimination in this context. When discrimination against women is in the context of gender and race, it also brings about double discrimination. Although the concepts of racism and discrimination are closely related, their meanings are different. Racism is a type of discrimination and it expresses that some races are superior to other races and that people are discriminated against and mistreated because of their race. The concept of discrimination means that people are subjected to unfair treatment due to race, gender, religion, age, etc. In this study, it is aimed to examine the power of women's labor in the movie called 6888 Battalion, which is based on a true story, on the basis of racism and discrimination.
