Synopsis

The supplier selection process is a crucial process that must be meticulously managed for businesses to achieve their short-term and long-term goals. While supplier selection processes can vary depending on the nature of the business, they can impact many factors. As with many other business types, the primary methods used in restaurant supplier selection are multi-criteria decision-making. This study aimed to test the applicability of game theory, a proven decision-making method, to restaurants' effective supplier selection processes. For this purpose, a survey design, a quantitative research method, was used to collect data by administering a questionnaire to restaurant managers in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, and Antalya. The data obtained was then tested using the SPSS statistical analysis package. The results suggest that restaurants currently operate within the framework of game theory, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and tend to play a more cooperative game.
