Synopsis

Fruits have been foods that satisfy hunger and provide energy since the beginning of humankind's existence on earth. Fruits, which have a very important and specific place in human life, have often been the subject of creation myths, fairy tales, epics, legends, folk tales, and beliefs and practices related to evil spirits. This study focuses on the etymological origins, historical development and importance of plums and peaches, which are important and widely consumed in Turkish culture, and their importance in mythology. Additionally, plum and peach symbols in art and their use in idioms and proverbs were investigated. In addition, the gastronomic importance of fruits and their use in meals were also examined.
