Synopsis
Mental fatigue is a fundamental condition that develops as a result of intense cognitive and emotional demands in sports environments and affects the psychological dimension of athletic performance. This process leads to limitations in attention and decision-making mechanisms, and changes in motivational processes and effort perception. In terms of emotional states, mental fatigue strengthens the perception of psychological pressure with increased stress and anxiety levels. In general, mental fatigue is considered an important phenomenon that affects the psychological foundation of performance in sports in a multifaceted way.
In conclusion, it can be stated that mental fatigue is a fundamental psychological condition that has decisive effects on attention, decision-making, motivation, and emotional processes in sports. The limitations in athletes' cognitive resources change the way performance demands are perceived and increase the perception of psychological pressure.
