Synopsis

Mental resilience can be defined as an individual's capacity to maintain psychological functioning and effectively manage performance-related cognitive-emotional processes in the face of challenging, stressful, and uncertain situations. In the context of sports, mental resilience is associated with adapting to stressors inherent in the competitive environment, maintaining focus, and supporting performance continuity. Imagery, on the other hand, refers to a psychological skill area that involves athletes mentally visualizing movements, performance situations, and competition scenarios. In sports, imagery is evaluated in connection with motor learning, attention regulation, and emotional control processes. It can also be stated that imagery plays a functional role in pre-performance preparation, managing pressure during competition, and mentally structuring the performance experience.

In conclusion, it can be stated that cognitive and emotional preparation processes developed through imagery support athletes' psychological resilience, and the development of mental resilience strengthens the effect of imagery on performance.
