Synopsis

Sports environments are dynamic social structures where individuals with diverse experiences and expectations coexist. In this environment, coaches not only provide technical and tactical guidance but also assume responsibility for supporting team communication and constructively managing potential conflicts. In this context, the importance of coach leadership and conflict resolution skills among athletes stands out in terms of team cohesion, motivation, and the sustainability of sports performance. Coach leadership encompasses a range of skills including effective communication, trust-building, and motivation. Leadership behaviors contribute to the constructive handling of conflicts in the sports environment, creating a positive interaction and cooperation environment within the team. Conflict resolution skills, on the other hand, prevent the destructive effects of disagreements, support the psychological well-being of athletes, and strengthen the overall functioning of the team. This book chapter aims to address the theoretical foundations and applicable aspects of coach leadership and conflict resolution skills in sports environments.
