Synopsis

This research was conducted to examine the sustainability activities of the top 3 airline operators. The airline operators examined in the research were selected based on independent consumer votes by Skytrax. As the aim of the research was to make determinations, a case study model commonly used in qualitative research was employed. The common sustainable activities identified among the examined airline operators include setting a target for zero carbon emissions by the year 2050 and making references to activities aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It has also been noted that the sustainability-based activities carried out by businesses are aimed at the Paris Climate Agreement and the main goals of IATA. Among the operators, the "B" airline operator was found to be the most collaborative in achieving sustainability activities within the business. This sets it apart from other airline operators. Based on the findings, various recommendations have been developed, and it is believed that these recommendations will contribute to the sector, businesses, and scientific studies.
