Synopsis

The development of advanced manufacturing technologies today necessitates the development of new processing techniques to provide more effective solutions in the production of difficult-to-machine materials with high strength, low thermal conductivity, and variable ductility properties, where traditional chip removal methods prove inadequate. Problems arising during the machining of these materials, such as high cutting forces, tool wear, low surface roughness, and poor hole quality, negatively affect production efficiency and product performance. Ultrasonic-assisted machining methods are emerging as an innovative solution for hole drilling and other machining operations. It has been observed that ultrasonic vibrations applied to the cutting tool or workpiece reduce cutting forces, facilitate chip breaking, extend tool life, and provide significant improvements in hole geometry and surface quality. Thus, high-quality holes are obtained in difficult-to-machine materials while optimizing production time and costs. Ultrasonic technologies are widely used in cutting, welding, cleaning, measuring, and inspection processes in many fields, including chip manufacturing, aerospace, defense, energy, automotive, food, textiles, healthcare, and space research. The increasing use of ultrasonic-assisted techniques in processes such as drilling, milling, turning, grinding, honing, reaming, and threading ensures high efficiency, precision, and hole quality in modern production systems.
