Synopsis

The tourism sector, whose economic and social impacts are steadily increasing, ranks among the fastest-growing industries globally. Technological advances have made travel processes more practical and accessible, enabling a wider audience to participate in tourism activities. However, the issue of equal access to tourism experiences for people with disabilities has been addressed with increasing awareness in recent years. Accessible tourism is an inclusive approach that aims to enable people with disabilities, as well as the elderly, children, and individuals with temporary or permanent mobility limitations, to participate in tourism activities in an equal, independent, and dignified manner. Digital technologies play a strategic role in reducing physical, cognitive, and information access barriers. Therefore, the proliferation of accessibility-focused technological applications in the tourism industry supports the development of accessible tourism and enables more individuals with disabilities to participate in tourism activities.
