Synopsis

This book, focusing on neurosurgical complications, aims to prevent recurrence by compiling complications from past surgical practices, while also teaching methods for managing complications, thus guiding the next generation of neurosurgeons toward precision and excellence in contemporary surgical practice.

There are three stages where complications are discussed and ways to prevent recurrence are learned. Learning occurs when complications arise during surgical procedures, when complications are discussed in morbidity and mortality meetings, and when they are reported in articles by other surgeons. The reported and discussed complications offer new surgeons the opportunity to avoid them in their future practices and learn how to manage them when they occur. The increasing use of modern technology in neurosurgical procedures, along with the growing body of experience, is leading to better outcomes and the reporting of complications. This is not only improving our treatment options but also encouraging innovation in surgical treatment choices.  We would like to thank all the chapter authors who contributed to the book. We hope this study contributes to a cycle of knowledge that educates us with what surgical experience has taught us, serving safer and better surgical outcomes in neurosurgery.
