Innovative Approaches and Next-Generation Engineering Studies in Industrial Engineering
Synopsis
Industrial Engineering is a strategic engineering discipline that develops holistic solutions for production and service systems evolving rapidly under the pressures of global competition, digital transformation, and sustainability. In today’s business environment, a wide spectrum of application areas—ranging from supply chains and recycling systems to sectoral performance analysis and digital platforms—necessitates innovative, data-driven, and systems-oriented approaches inherent to industrial engineering. In this context, the book entitled “Innovative Approaches and Next-Generation Engineering Studies in Industrial Engineering” aims to address contemporary challenges and future-oriented solutions of the discipline from a multidimensional perspective.
The chapters included in this volume focus on critical and timely topics such as supply chain vulnerability and resilience across OECD countries, the role of robotics and artificial intelligence in manufacturing for accelerated recycling processes, and comprehensive analyses of leading firms in the Turkish furniture industry through performance evaluation and benchmarking practices. In addition, the book examines the restructuring of the furniture industry in the digital era, with particular emphasis on e-commerce, logistics challenges, and the entrepreneurship ecosystem. The transition in e-waste research from traditional management approaches toward circular economy–oriented strategies is also explored in detail.
Edited with the objective of bridging academic research and industrial practice, this book is intended to serve as a contemporary and valuable reference for academics, graduate students, and industry professionals. It is our hope that this work will contribute to the advancement of innovative thinking and interdisciplinary research in the field of industrial engineering. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our authors who contributed to the publication of this book, as well as to the staff of Özgür Publishing House for their efforts
