Synopsis
In today's highly competitive business environment, keeping up with technological developments and leveraging every innovation through benchmarking is crucial for sustaining competitiveness. To achieve a more efficient and competitive structure, there is a significant need to make more innovative moves by capitalizing on developments in different sectors.
Globalization and the increasingly competitive environment are forcing businesses operating in the furniture sector to become more efficient, innovative, and customer-focused. In this context, benchmarking stands out as a strategic management tool that enables businesses to improve their performance by examining successful practices within or outside their sector. The purpose of this study is to explain the concept of benchmarking and to reveal the contributions that benchmarking practices provide to businesses in the furniture sector. The study uses a literature review method and addresses benchmarking types, implementation processes, and criteria specific to the furniture sector. As a result, it was determined that benchmarking practices play an important role in increasing the competitive power of furniture businesses.
