Synopsis
In this study, the control and discipline function of education is examined. In a sense, education has been one of the most important ideological instruments of the state. Governments make use of education as much as possible to create the type of people they want and obey. Persuasion and voluntary participation are critical for the continuity of power and the continuity of unequal power relations and domination without the need for pressure devices. For this reason, attention should be paid to the ideological orientation dimension of education as well as information. Through education, the masses are convinced of the necessity and importance of the existing political order. Thus, it is possible to control, direct, shape and discipline people through education. I. Illich and P. Bourdie's evaluations on education are discussed in the study in order to take the subject more closely and to concretize it.
