Synopsis
Healthcare institutions are among the working environments at high risk for mobbing due to heavy workloads, hierarchical structures, time pressure, and emotionally demanding working conditions. Mobbing experienced by healthcare workers leads to significant psychological, social, and professional consequences; it reduces job satisfaction, causes loss of motivation, increases burnout syndrome, and negatively affects professional performance. In addition, it weakens intra-organizational communication, disrupts teamwork, and indirectly has adverse effects on the quality of healthcare services and patient safety. This chapter discusses the types and causes of mobbing among healthcare workers, its individual and organizational outcomes, and its impact on performance, supported by findings from the literature. Furthermore, institutional policies, management approaches, and preventive strategies for combating mobbing are examined, and recommendations are presented to ensure a safer, more supportive, and more productive working environment for healthcare professionals. In this context, the study aims to raise awareness about mobbing in healthcare institutions and contribute to the development of sustainable, performance-oriented solutions.
