Synopsis
Gemstones have been exhibited in various forms for adornment from antiquity to the present day. A gemstone is a term used to describe minerals, rocks, and petrified organic materials that have gained importance due to their attractiveness and beauty, rarity, large crystallinity, and workability. This study describes the formation of the green chrysoprase mineraloid, a member of the Quartz Group; its presence in Turkey, its physical and chemical properties, and its semi-precious gemstone quality used for adornment in jewelry; its use in antiquity; and its use in jewelry for adornment using modern technology. The technique for processing green chrysoprase, a member of the Quartz Group, into a cabochon, a form of gemstone shaping, and the use of the necessary machinery for this technique are described. The resulting cabochon is then shaped into a necklace to achieve aesthetic appeal.
