Synopsis

It has radically transformed the process ranging from the effective use of technology in all areas of life, access to information, evaluation and meaningful use of information; With the effect of digitalization, it has added a new dimension to individuals' thinking and learning approaches. The concepts of digital epistemological beliefs and digital literacy have gained importance especially in academic studies. In this context, the aim of our study is to examine the relationship between the digital epistemological beliefs and digital literacy of students in the Faculty of Sports Sciences. In the study, the relational screening model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The population of the study consists of students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Atatürk University, while the sample group comprises a total of 380 students, including 246 males and 134 females. During the data collection process, the “Epistemological Belief Scale Towards the Internet” was used to measure the digital epistemological beliefs of the students and the “Digital Literacy Scale” was used to examine the digital literacy levels of the students. In the evaluation of the obtained data, frequency analysis was applied in the SPSS program, t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used in independent groups, and the Scheffe test was used in cases where there was a difference between the groups. As a result of the research, when the digital epistemological beliefs of male and female students were examined according to the gender variable, it was found that male students were significantly higher than female students when digital literacy levels are examined, there is a significant difference between female students and male students. According to the correlation results obtained in the study, a strong positive relationship was found between the level of digital epistemological beliefs and the level of digital literacy. In this regard, creating learning environments that encourage more questioning and critical thinking towards digital information can contribute to the development of individuals' digital literacy skills.
