Dualism in Organizational Behavior: The Tension and Interaction of Opposing Concepts – Volume 1.
Synopsis
Leaders have a significant role in ensuring the healthy functioning of organizations by influencing and shaping all organizational processes. Organizations possess numerous resources that require management, and leadership constitutes one of the key determinants of their effectiveness. The aim of this study is to evaluate authoritarian and democratic leadership styles from a dualistic and tension-based perspective, based on theoretical frameworks and application findings. For this purpose, first, the concepts of authoritarian and democratic leadership have been introduced. Subsequently, the areas of tension and interaction between the two leadership styles, and their organizational and managerial implications, are discussed, and conclusions and evaluations are made.
