This study aims to examine the transformation in the strategic management literature from classical approaches to contemporary approaches. The field of strategic management has undergone significant theoretical and conceptual developments over time as organizations seek to achieve competitive advantage and adapt to changing environmental conditions. In this context, the historical development of the strategic management literature is discussed, and the main differences and continuities between classical and contemporary approaches are analyzed.

Strategic management refers to a comprehensive management approach that includes systematic analysis, planning, and implementation processes enabling organizations to achieve sustainable success in uncertain and competitive environments. Within this framework, concepts such as competitive strategies, the resource-based view, the dynamic capabilities approach, and environmental analysis have played an important role in the development of the strategic management literature.

The study employs the literature review method. Major theoretical approaches and models in the field of strategic management are examined, and the theoretical transformation from classical to contemporary approaches is analyzed. In this regard, the relationships among competition, resources, capabilities, and environmental factors in the strategic management literature are discussed.

The findings indicate that the field of strategic management has evolved through the contributions of different theoretical perspectives and has reached a multidimensional analytical framework today. Furthermore, it is concluded that strategic thinking, environmental analysis, and organizational capabilities should be evaluated together in order for organizations to achieve sustainable success in competitive and dynamic environments.
