Synopsis

As is known, sporting events and active participation in sports are among the important tourism activities that contribute to the economic development of destinations, strengthen social interaction, and increase the visibility of cultural values. However, for the sustainable development of sports tourism, it is necessary to protect environmental resources, ensure the participation of local communities in decision-making processes, and integrate the gains from sporting events into long-term destination planning. The management of sustainable sports tourism destinations is shaped in line with the principles of environmental responsibility, economic efficiency, and social participation. In this process, the adoption of a circular economy approach, the use of smart destination technologies, the development of multi-stakeholder governance mechanisms, and the regular monitoring of sustainability performance play an important role. In conclusion, within the scope of this section, it can be stated that sustainable destination management within the scope of sports tourism presents a holistic approach that requires the protection of environmental resources and the consideration of social benefit while increasing the economic returns of tourism activities.
