Synopsis

This study aims to examine the multidimensional relationship between the FinTech ecosystem and digital governance in a holistic manner, drawing on the perspectives of corporate governance, strategic alignment, risk management, performance measurement, and sustainability. The chapter covers the structure and actors of the FinTech ecosystem, the conceptual framework of digital governance, strategy and regulatory compliance, risk and technology management, and performance and stakeholder management. The FinTech ecosystem is defined as a multi-actor stakeholder ecosystem comprising entrepreneurs, banks, regulatory authorities, technology providers, and users. Within this structure, trust, data sharing, and regulatory compliance constitute the core mechanisms that sustain the functioning of the ecosystem. Mobile financial services and digital payment systems broaden participation in the financial system by offering alternative channels to those with limited access to traditional banking. In this context, financial inclusion is proposed as one of the central focal points of the study. Digital governance is positioned as a balancing mechanism that enables innovation to advance within institutional, legal, and ethical boundaries. As regulatory technology (RegTech) and supervisory technology (SupTech) applications digitalize processes, data governance and algorithmic transparency become integral components of corporate strategy. Digital trust, within this framework, transcends its role as a mere performance outcome and evolves into a strategic prerequisite, serving as the principal element of stakeholder confidence through data privacy, cyber resilience, and the ethical use of algorithms. Within this scope, the chapter conceptualizes the relationship between FinTech and digital governance not as instrumental compliance but as a process of structural mutual shaping. In conclusion, this chapter demonstrates that building a sustainable and trustworthy financial ecosystem is possible not through technological innovation alone, but through a mature digital governance understanding that simultaneously considers innovation, risk, and regulation.
