Synopsis
Stress, a popular concept encompassing psychological, physical, or emotional responses, occurs in almost every aspect of life, particularly in challenging situations. Stress is one of the significant organizational problems that needs to be dealt with in the service sector (such as tourism), where the human factor plays a significant role, both for consumers and producers. In hotel establishments, which are one of the most important building blocks of the tourism sector, human circulation and density are generally at a high level Therefore, employees in hotels may face a number of stress factors. It can be assumed that most of these stress factors in hotels stem from the inherent challenges of the tourism sector and/or constantly changing consumers with diverse wants and needs who are expecting satisfaction. Stress, known to cause numerous health problems, is a particularly important issue that deserves attention. Otherwise, stress can lead to various health problems over time, burnout, absenteeism, and even high employee turnover, which is a costly path for establishments. This prediction also forms the starting point of the study. The aim of this study is to identify organizational stress, one of the significant organizational problems experienced by employees in hotels, and its possible causes, and to establish a conceptual framework in this context. For this aim, the conceptual framework of the study was established by examining national and international academic studies on organizational stress in hotel establishments and the tourism sector. The study discusses the possible causes of organizational stress, as well as its effects and proposed solutions, and finally offers some suggestions for relevant stakeholders.
