Synopsis

This study aims to identify and evaluate the tourism potential of Belen district in Hatay province, a location of strategic and cultural significance, and to reveal the opportunities for the sustainable use of its resources. Based on a master's thesis, this work comprehensively analyzes the current state of the district using qualitative research methods such as document analysis, semi-structured interviews with local stakeholders, and SWOT analysis. The research findings indicate that Belen possesses high appeal, particularly in gastronomy (the geographically indicated Belen Tava and Kömürçukuru Molasses), plateau tourism (Soğukoluk, Atik, and Müftüler plateaus), and cultural-religious tourism (Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Complex and Bakras Castle). Conversely, the lack of promotion and advertising, limited accommodation facilities, and infrastructure inadequacies were identified as the primary obstacles to the district's tourism development. The book aims to contribute to regional development by providing strategic recommendations for local governments and the sector to address these deficiencies.
